TecnoConverting installs a TecnoGrabber® system in Sant Feliu de Guíxols to protect the Mediterranean
posted in News by TecnoConverting
TecnoConverting Engineering has successfully completed the installation of its TecnoGrabber® debris-retention clamps system at a 6-metre-wide overflow in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Costa Brava, Catalonia. The project, essential for environmental protection, was carried out together with the For the Best World Foundation, with the support of the City Council of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, and thanks to the collaboration of Amazon and the Porta Ferrada Festival, who joined the Clean the Sea initiative to prevent marine pollution and restore the health of the Mediterranean.
The TecnoGrabber® system has been strategically installed at the overflow that discharges directly into the sea, in an area frequently used by bathers. During heavy-rain events, solid debris that previously ended up in the sea will now be retained, preventing pollution and protecting the local marine ecosystem.
Impact and benefits of the TecnoGrabber® system
Since its launch in 2020, TecnoGrabber® systems have proven highly effective at retaining solid debris. They are designed to intercept gross and floating solids that, during intense rainfall, are carried towards the environment. With the recent installation in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, TecnoConverting Engineering reaffirms its commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.
TecnoGrabber® clamps provide several key advantages:
- Retention efficiency: The TecnoGrabber® clamps, with their robust metal rods, significantly reduce the amount of debris discharged to the environment.
- Easy cleaning and maintenance: Compact, reusable, and multiple clamps can be installed at the same overflow.
- High collection capacity: The two rows of clamps, driven by the central shaft, allow more debris to be collected.
Innovation and collaboration for a cleaner Mediterranean
The installation event was attended by Elisenda Franquet, CEO and founder of the For the Best World Foundation, Marifé Larragay, Councillor for the Environment at the Sant Feliu de Guíxols City Council, and Álvaro, Shift Manager at Amazon. They underlined the importance of the initiative and the need to raise public awareness on proper waste disposal—especially wet wipes—to prevent them from ending up in our seas and rivers.
TecnoConverting Engineering would like to thank everyone involved in this project, including the For the Best World Foundation for its tireless work and its initiative to use reusable cups at the Porta Ferrada Festival, the proceeds of which helped fund part of this project. We also highlight the essential support of the City Council of Sant Feliu de Guíxols and the valuable collaboration of Amazon, whose contribution has been key to making this initiative a reality.
We encourage everyone to join this conservation effort: avoid flushing inappropriate items down the toilet and help spread the word about protecting our sea.
