Is it necessary to cover the bottom of the lamellar that doesn’t work?

posted in Technical Articles by

Usually in lamellar settlers there is always an initial part that doesn’t work. This is the initial part of the settler where there aren’t lamellas and sometimes there are people who choose to cover it.

Indeed, in TecnoConverting we do not find any technical justification for such action, however, there are other compelling reasons to not cover this area:

Over time, the decanted sludge is deposited on the plate that covers the initial area of the decanter and causes a considerable accumulation, and the worst is that there is no way to remove it, even when empty, it is virtually impossible to access to that area if not removing the lamellar modules.

We attached pictures which clearly shows this easily avoidable fact of the lamella separator.
